This past year, Nashrah developed a passion in using cinematic story lines to exemplify social justice issues. With one camera and her family by her side, she directed and produced her first ever short film, at the age of fourteen, capturing the complex essence of living in America as a young, Muslim woman. Nashrah’s film had the honor of being selected at the 3rd Annual White House Student Film Festival where she shared her enthusiasm for creative cinematography and social activism. Her film highlighted the difficulties of being a minority in America, as well as what she hopes to share with the world. By using film as a creative outlet to highlight the social issues of being a Muslim woman, she has created a powerful chain of reactions within her community.
