Ruth Opara, a Nigerian, is currently an Ethnomusicologist. She received her BA Arts in Music Education from the University of Nigeria, Masters from University of Louisville, Kentucky in Pan African Studies, and PhD from the University of Colorado Boulder in Musicology. Her research areas include African music and culture, music and the global woman, music and gender and popular music. Ruth has published referred journal articles and has presented in many academic local and international conferences. She taught in Nigeria and is currently teaching in the USA. She was a Provost Fellow in the University of Colorado Library.
